Sontara®

Sontara® is a DuPont registered trademark for fabrics made at its
Old Hickory site using hydroentangling technology – a nonwoven
process also known as spunlacing.
DuPont’s Old Hickory site is the largest spunlacing facility in
the world.
From hospital gowns to imitation leather to wipes to window shades,
DuPont Sontara® spunlaced fabrics are converted into an almost
infinite number of products that perform just as many functions.
For example, since Sontara® was first made at Old Hickory in 1973,
it has become the leading choice of surgeons and nurses in operating
rooms across North America. To date, garments of Sontara® fabric have
protected doctors and nurses in more than 200 million surgical
procedures. In fact, every week in the United States, more than one
million people are protected during surgery with gowns and drapes made
of Sontara® spunlaced fabric made at the Old Hickory site.
